This is a good option when the repair is primarily focused on worn components within the compressor head.
Tune Up Kit (TUK)
Need to go further? A Tune Up Kit expands on the components needed for the head and includes additional parts required to recondition the compressor.
Depending on the specific compressor, a Tune Up Kit can include:
- Valve repair components
- Complete gasket set
- Piston ring kits
- Rod inserts, when required
- Seals and other necessary components

Major Overhaul Kit (MOK)
When an older compressor needs more extensive work, a Major Overhaul Kit takes the repair another step.
Major Overhaul Kits contain the components found in a Tune Up Kit along with additional parts for rebuilding the bottom end of the compressor. Depending on the model, these kits may include connecting rods, bushings, main bearings, and other components.
For compressors that are worth keeping in service but require a more substantial rebuild, a Major Overhaul Kit can provide a convenient way to source the necessary replacement parts.

The primary difference is simple: rather than providing the individual wearing components needed to rebuild the existing valves, Valve Set kits include complete replacement valve assemblies.
